BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Irina Edelstein, the Brooklyn, New York, Chapter Leader of Independent Women’s Network, recently appeared on the popular talk show, Dr. Phil, to shed light on the ongoing crisis at the southern border and share her personal immigration story. As a Russian immigrant and concerned mother, Edelstein expressed her worries about the impact of resources allocated to illegal immigrants on the taxpayer dollar. She also voiced her concerns about the proximity of her children’s school to a shelter housing 400 single male immigrants.
During the interview, Edelstein emphasized her appreciation for being an American citizen, despite the ongoing migration crisis and local safety concerns, stating, “Everybody goes through a journey to become a citizen in America, and I’m very thankful for mine because it took a very long time and it taught me a lot of things. It taught me patience, gratitude, and it made me very patriotic for this country.”
Reflecting on her experience on the show, Edelstein stated, “Speaking with Dr. Phil and his guests was an eye-opener. Although I was well aware of the ongoing migrant crisis from the groundworks of NYC, seeing how serious of a national issue it has become from the testimonials of other guests on the show was shocking. Yet, I also became convinced it will take all sides coming together to get this issue under control. I’m hopeful that Dr. Phil’s platform will expedite this movement.”
Christy Narsi, IWN’s National Chapter Director, has lived in the state of Arizona for over two decades. Narsi has seen the negative impact of open borders over the years and the cost to Arizonans, both financially and in higher crime rates. She looks forward to partnering with Edelstein and other IWN Chapters to raise awareness about the historic levels of migrants attempting to enter the US illegally.
Narsi stated, “There is an unprecedented number of individuals entering our country illegally who are on the terrorist watch list; that’s a fact. Unchecked illegal migration undermines the integrity of our legal immigration system and endangers our citizens. And this is not a political issue: this is an economic, national security, and public safety issue. If we cannot do something as common sense as vetting who enters our country, are we even a country?”
“At Independent Women’s Network we are urging constituents to take action at the local level. You can get involved by signing the “Safe Borders Petition” at IWN’s “Demand A Safe And Secure Border!” Action Center.”
