Another Victory for Women’s Bill of Rights
Praises are in order for Governor Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma, who has taken a bold step in becoming the first governor to issue an executive order in support of women with the Women’s Bill of Rights.
The order takes a firm stance on the definitions of sex-based terms such as ‘female,’ ‘woman,’ and ‘mother,’ while also safeguarding spaces reserved exclusively for women.
At the signing ceremony, Governor Stitt was joined by the Independent Women’s Voice, who was responsible for crafting the model legislation that served as the inspiration for the Women’s Bill of Rights Executive Order.
Oklahoma now becomes the third state to adopt the Women’s Bill of Rights, clearly defining ‘sex’ in state laws as biological sex at birth. This legislation has also influenced similar laws in Kansas and Tennessee, which were inspired by the Women’s Bill of Rights developed by IWV.
