Press Release: Women in Arizona Urge Senator Sinema To Say No To More Spending, Higher Taxes
Update: This bill has passed the Senate.
PHOENIX, AZ – Women in Arizona are sending a loud message to Senator Kyrsten Sinema to say NO to the Democrats’ misnamed Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.
Recent analysis found that the $433 billion Manchin-Schumer bill, despite its name, would actually increase inflation levels through 2024, putting further strain on the U.S. economy and worsening the painful recession. Senator Sinema remains the only Democratic senator whose position on the measure is unclear.
The Phoenix chapter of Independent Women’s Network (IWN), a grassroots membership organization of women nationwide, will make their voices heard on Thursday, August 4, 2022 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. MST at a member meetup — outside of Sen. Sinema’s Phoenix district office. Members will hold signs, wave to cars, and share their message with Sen. Sinema and her staff that Arizona women are counting on her to stop the spending bill that will hurt, not help, Arizona families.
Earlier this week, hundreds of Arizona IWN members sent a letter to Sen. Sinema to share their concerns with the bill, including how it would harm Arizonians by increasing taxes and inflation and, ultimately, putting further strain on an already difficult economic situation.
Christy Narsi, leader of the IWN Phoenix chapter, said, “Many Arizonans are struggling financially, faced with 40-year inflation highs. The Inflation Reduction Act will only drive inflation higher, slow economic growth and reduce worker wages. Sen. Sinema should stand up for Arizonans and say no to this misnamed bill.”
Independent Women’s Voice, the parent company of IWN, placed a radio buy in Arizona this week featuring a 30 second ad urging Arizonians to call Sen. Sinema to voice their concerns about the Democrats’ plan and why they’re calling on Sen. Sinema to stop it.
Will the senator listen?
