Brainwashing Middle Schoolers about SEL
It’s becoming abundantly clear that America’s public schools are using “social emotional learning” (SEL) lessons to push CRT and gender identity in schools. They teach these divisive topics under the guise of “equity” education. In some districts, like Fairfax County, Va., they don’t offer an opt-out process for parents and try to avoid transparency, disregarding the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment.
If the blatant disregard for parental rights and teaching divisive topics to our children isn’t bad enough, these administrators and educators are trying to force our children to believe SEL is taught for their own good. While SEL instruction occurs in “advisory” or “study hall” periods, 8th-graders in Fairfax County were given this question in their English classes: Which evidence below best supports the claim – “Teaching social and emotional skills to elementary students improves their academic performance”?
The best “evidence” was a study published in the journal of Child Development. But the point of the question wasn’t to raise the issue of a deeply contested topic, whether SEL is good for anything really, but to make 8th graders read a study indicating that it “improves academic performance”.
SEL curriculum has become a lucrative industry, administered by an increasing number of public school districts across the country. It seems they are helping to formulate questions for general curriculum to solidify the future of that industry and to continue the indoctrination of America’s children.
