IWN Newsmaker Chat: Corey DeAngelis on Empowering Parents Through Education Freedom
Thank you for joining our Newsmaker Chat that discussed 2021: The Year of School Choice and 2022: The Year of the Parent.
The last two years have been plagued by disrupted learning that caused a nationwide learning loss and mental health crisis. Many parents are waking up to the problems with bureaucratic and union-captured school systems, but don’t understand yet that education freedom is the solution.
Corey’s Bio: Corey DeAngelis is the national director of research at the American Federation for Children, the executive director at Educational Freedom Institute, an adjunct scholar at Cato Institute, and a senior fellow at Reason Foundation. He was named on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for his work on education policy and received the Buckley Award from America’s Future in 2020.
His research primarily focuses on the effects of school choice programs on non‐academic outcomes such as criminal activity, character skills, mental health, and political participation. He has authored or co‐authored over 40 journal articles, book chapters, and reports on education policy, and he is the co‐editor of School Choice Myths: Setting the Record Straight on Education Freedom.
Earth Day: Realistic Ways to Protect Our Environment
Earth Day has become synonymous with the Left’s approach to ‘climate change,’ but what are the conservative efforts to preserve the environment? The federal government, led by the Biden White House, is pursuing policies that set the U.S. back by relying on foreign nations with bad track records for our energy needs. Instead of a climate agenda that actually looks at solutions to help the environment and the economy, liberal policymakers are putting their political agenda first.
Join Independent Women’s Network for a serious conversation about environmentalism and conservation just in time for Earth Day. Don’t miss this impressive lineup of policy experts!

- What could the U.S. have done better to deter Russian aggression?
- What role do Green Energy policies play in these conflicts?
- What needs to happen now to prevent escalation and protect American interests?
- Runaway inflation and a slumping economy are plaguing America under Biden. What needs to change to right this ship?
