IWN NY Chapter Meets with Paula Scanlan

The New York, NY Chapter of Independent Women’s Network (IWN) recently held a chapter meeting welcoming Paula Scanlan, a former member of the University of Pennsylvania Women’s Swim Team, an IW Ambassador, and a fierce activist for women’s rights to safety and privacy. Also in attendance was Natasha Deleon, who served as a detective in the NYPD for 19 years and Betsy McCaughey, former Lt. Governor of New York. The women of the NYC IWN chapter engaged in a fruitful discussion with Paula, Natasha, and Betsy, highlighting their commitment to defending women’s rights to safety and fair competition.

Aundrea Amine, IWN’s NYC Chapter Leader, highlighted the significance of the gathering, stating, “We had a great turnout of old, new, and prospective members eager to meet IW Ambassador Paula Scanlan and hear about her work with IW to defend and protect women’s and girls’ single-sex spaces. Additionally, former NY Lt. Governor Betsy McCaughey attended and spoke about Save our City NY, a committee of bipartisan, civic-minded leaders working to inform New York City’s citizens about common sense approaches we should expect from our elected officials to address the issues plaguing our city: growing crime, deterioration of quality of life, and resultant hindrance to economic opportunities. Too many leave New York instead of voting to expect more from our politicians.”

Irina Edelstein, IWN’s Brooklyn, NY Chapter Leader, expressed her enthusiasm about the meeting, stating, “I truly enjoyed meeting so many wonderful women with likeminded goals and visions for NYC. It was an honor to have my dear friend Natasha Deleon, NYPD detective, come to the meeting and join the conversation with her powerful insights on the current crime situation. Her perspective reminds us of the importance of working together with local authorities and community leaders to ensure safe spaces for all New Yorkers, especially women and children. We will continue to raise awareness in our community and take meaningful steps toward a stronger, safer future.”

The NYC IWN Chapter remains committed to advocating for women’s rights and safety in all aspects of life. They stand ready to collaborate with local authorities and community leaders to ensure safe spaces for all New Yorkers, particularly women and children. The chapter aims to raise awareness and take meaningful steps towards a stronger and safer future.
