Nicole Solas, a senior fellow at IWF’s Education Freedom Center, spoke recently at event on the Parents Bill of Rights with Republican lawmakers.
Solas shared her story of being humiliated by her local school board after asking questions about what her 5-year-old daughter was learning. Because the class curriculum wasn’t publicly posted, she had to make special requests to find out.
Solas said the teacher’s union brought a lawsuit against her for asking to have a copy of the class curriculum. As she tells it, they wanted to send a message to other parents that “if you ask questions, we will come after you.”
